1. Advent One App Overview
Advent One is the official member companion mobile application developed by Aquar Labs for the AdventShip ecosystem. It connects church members, families, and attendees with their local Seventh-day Adventist congregation, Sabbath School classes, church bulletins, prayer requests, tithe/offering giving, and community events.
This policy specifically details mobile-specific permissions, camera access, push notification tokens, local device caching, and child safety features within the Advent One app.
2. Device Permissions
Advent One requests only the minimum device permissions needed to deliver specific features. Each permission is requested at runtime with a clear prompt:
- Camera & Photo Library: Used solely when you choose to upload a profile picture, scan an event or Sabbath School QR code check-in, or submit photos for church bulletin boards. We never access your camera in the background.
- Location (Optional): Used only to help you find nearby Seventh-day Adventist churches, camp meetings, or calculate sunset times for the Sabbath. You can choose “While Using the App” or decline without losing core features.
- Push Notifications: Used to deliver church announcements, prayer request updates, pastor alerts, and reminder notifications. Can be customized or disabled in App Settings at any time.
3. Mobile Data We Collect
- Member Profile: Name, verified email, phone number, family unit linkages (for family check-ins), and church membership status.
- App Analytics & Diagnostics: App version, operating system version, device model, and anonymous crash logs (via Firebase Crashlytics) to diagnose bugs and improve stability.
- Member Directory Preferences: Privacy toggles determining whether your contact info is visible to your local congregation directory or restricted to church pastoral staff.
4. Location, Camera & Media Handling
Advent One does not track continuous background location. Any location coordinates captured during a church search are processed in memory and are not stored in permanent tracking logs.
Images captured via camera for Sabbath School check-ins are processed on-device for QR reading and are immediately discarded.
5. Push Notifications & Preferences
When enabled, the app registers a secure device push token (via Apple APNs or Google FCM). You have granular category control in Advent One > Profile > Notification Settings for:
- Pastoral messages & weekly church bulletins
- Sabbath School class discussions
- Prayer request updates
- Volunteer scheduling & duty reminders
6. Children & Family Safety
Child Safety & COPPA Compliance
Advent One child check-in and Cradle Roll/Kindergarten Sabbath School registrations are strictly managed under verified parental accounts. We never market to children or collect standalone child profile accounts without verified parent/guardian consent.
7. Offline Storage & Security
Local data cached on your device (such as hymn lyrics, Sabbath School lessons, and church directories) is stored in encrypted SQLite databases protected by device-level sandboxing and biometric access (FaceID/TouchID/Fingerprint).
8. Account & Data Deletion
In compliance with Apple App Store and Google Play requirements, you can easily delete your Advent One mobile account at any time:
- Open Advent One > Profile > Settings > Account.
- Tap “Delete Account & Associated Data”.
- Confirm deletion. Your mobile credentials, device tokens, and personal app preferences will be immediately purged.
Alternatively, you can submit an online request using our Account Deletion Request Form.
Note: If you are an official member of a local church organization, your historical church membership records remain under the jurisdiction of your local church clerk / pastor per church policy.
